Default How to fish anchovies at DVL?

I have only been to DVL a handful of times and have always used hard baits or plastics. I noticed on the DVL fishing report page, stripers are been caught using sardines, anchovies, and mackerel. What type of setup is typically used when targeting stripers via bait and wait? Is the whole bait used, type of weights, or flyline maybe?

I was at the lake yesterday and witnessed 6 nice stripers caught from shore using sardines... They were all using the same rig.. just your basic sliding sinker rig thats it nothing special. good luck

Huh, that actually works there. Interesting. BTW how big were these nice stripers? 3-5lbs?

I generally switch between a dropper loop type rig or the good ole' sliding sinker.

Or... when the bite gets closer to the top I like a sliding bobber where I can adjust the depth with my knot placement.

Take your anchovie and cut the tail and head off [ these go overboard as chum ] now hook your anchovie thru the lower tail section and let it hang as the stripers arent hook shy , BUT finding the right depth is the ticket . // db
