Default Welcome to ROCKTOBER (fall fishing0 and pre-frontal conditions! STUPID WIDE OPEN

Well it is officially Rocktober, a time of year that is knowen to produce epic fishing for Catfish. On top of that throw in a pre frontal conditons and you have a reciepe for a Catfish Massacre. And that is exactly what happened tonight at Irvine Lake.
Form the get go it was quite obvious this little storm cell had but the Whiskerfish on the chew! Guys where reporting wide open style fishing today and tonight on various different baits. One group of anglers jokingly complained that they could not keep two rods in the water! They would cast out and before they could event bait another rod or tie a hook on the rod they had just casted was ripped!

Here they are again Team Woodward with a 48lb limit taken during the day! All of their fish came on Mackeral from the Santiago Flats.

John Capelouto read the little tutorial I put out and took some of the advise in the article. Here he is with a 7.10 and a 5.9lb Channel Catfish taken on Mackeral doused in Bite On Cajun.

Marty Sauceda of Costa Mesa knows how to ring in Rocktober with these two quality Channel Catfish. His big fish went 5.8 and was part of a 20.4 limit taken on Mackeral and Shrimp from the Santiago Flats.

What would an Irvine Lake Catfish report be without the one the only Mr. Phil Hildebrandnt of Anaheim. Phil has been waiting for this month to come and the pre front threw it over the edge. Phils massive stringer went 32.9lbs and was anchored by these two quality Cats. The bigger fish checked in at 7.1 and the smaller one (cant believe I just typed that) went 5.9! All of Phils fish fell for a Mackeral and Shrimp combo.

Mr. Ronson "Catmando" Smothers told me in the begining of the year he was going to make a hard run at it in Late September and October. Ronson was with out his boat tonight due to some key issues. Ronson saw the weather report saw tonight would be the 1st of Rocktober and decieded that he need to fish. Good choice my fine sir. Ronson was rewarded with this 15.8 Channel Catfish.
    But wait theres more!

Don Spencer from www.donsfishon.com guide service took a break from fishing the Bass and took out for a relaxing night of catfishing. Donny is a very experianced fisherman and knows what fall time fishing and prefronts are all about. Anyways here is Donny with a 17.0 Channel Catfish.

There it is guys fall fishing with some pre frontal conditions at its finest! Tommrow is officially the 1st day and night of October. But as I weighed most of these fish and am typing this report I am welcoming in Rocktober with a sense of hope that some one will take advantage of this pre frontal condition during arguably the best month for Trophy Catfish. In talking with the regulars the chill is staring to get in the air and it starting to feel like that time when a Titan, a Catfish over 30lbs. Will hit the scales. Come on out and take advantage of this epic fall bite guys and gals of FNN! Hope to see you guys at the scales tommrow night.
    Tight Lines FNN!

This photo was just emailed to me from Terry "Pontoon" Lairson from last night.

What would an Irvine Lake report and picture show be with out the Rockstar himself Mr. Chris "Trollmeister" Hagopian. Here is Chris with a chunky Wiper that weighed in at 8.7 and was caught on Mackeal. Trolly was fishing the road to the West Shore when the Exotic Bass bit.
