Thread: Stripers and by-catch

  1. #1

    Default Stripers and by-catch

Been fishing DVL for the past couple weeks with great success on the shoreline. Lots of stripers but nothing over about 15lbs for me so far this year. Amazing how some of these stripers...." 4 lbs" will take down a 10" tripple trout or a producer plug. Some toad bass on the TT. Looking forward to a great DVL winter. All stripers but 3 so far this year were all released to fight another day. Ive read all the drama about stripers and how horrible they are but my opinion is for hopes of DVL being a world class STRIPER lake. I do give some away if there are shore fisherman near by but most are released. The LMB are my by- catch and released as well.

Just depends on the day, is say mostly a steady wind then burn it, and back to a steady wind. With the producer plug, 40% of the time its nailed sitting still. I use straight mono, 25-30lb. I'm not one who believes in the floro, salt or fresh water. If you fallow the ocean scene, when then bft were biting and everyone said to use 15 lb with a floro top shot. I was killing it on straight 20-25 mono.
