    Default Hot Creek May 2012

Harvey and I went to Hot Creek on day 2 of our Sierras adventure. It was his first time and my second. We did pretty good considering our inexperience there. We fished dry/dropper rigs most of the day, but did have some luck on dries in the afternoon. There was a HUGE caddis hatch in the late afternoon, but the fish sure didn't seem to care.

I brought the one and only net I have for sale http://www.sierra-nets.com/CMS-Sierr...nid=67&page=67
with me to do a photo opp. It's a Maple Burl/Maple handle with Wenge, Mahogany, and Curly Maple hoop.

We caught mostly browns with a healthy dose of 'bows.

Here are the results I was able to capture on film:

This one's so happy to be in a Sierra Net, he's smiling!

We caught many fish between us, and the day was beautiful again! Life is good!

Some weird caterpillars we noticed in the bushes on the hike out. They were spinning their webs using a back/forth motion that made them look like they were moving in fast motion. It was bizarre.

I will post up next on my trip up to see Smitty at Parchers and South Lake.

Another great post! I saw those same caterpillars all over the back side of Grant Lake. I wondered what they were as well.
