Striper King Classic 2 "Super Raffle" Volunteers and Winners
The Striper King Classic 2 could not have been organized without our dedicated volunteers. I've put together some great shots of our volunteers in action and some "winning" shots. The tournament is not just about the biggest fish, sometimes the prize is in the eyes of the beholders!
Volunteer Wounded Warrior coordinator Ben Maples of Camp Pendleton addressing the crowd as the festivities are about to begin. Ben assisted in getting all of the Warriors on their respective boats from 4:00am as they came up from Camp Pendleton.
These were the "heart and soul" of our tremendous volunteers. From left to right: Katie Thompson, Hiroko Ogawa, Elizabeth Thompson and Greg Worthington of Valley-Wide Recreation & Parks District. This was the second year for all of them. As a volunteer, Greg came up Friday morning to assist in setting up everything. On Saturday, he coordinated the boat checks from 5:00am, worked the entire event and help breakdown everything leaving at 5:00pm. A huge thanks to Greg!
Greg Worthington assisted by Katie from one of our sponsors. This was Katie's second year also. She represented one of our sponsors with stores in Temecula and Menifee. Katie has a super attitude and is always great during our Super Raffle.
FNN member Bruce Watson winning another raffle prize, presented by Rachell Rheault from our sunglasses sponsor. Bruce needed a shopping cart for all of the raffle prizes that he won at the SKC2. Bruce and Chris have the right touch when buying their raffle tickets!
One of our youngsters winning a couple of raffle prizes from Katie. It didn't matter to this little one if he caught the biggest fish, he just wanted to win one of our raffle prizes! His smile tells the whole story doesn't it?
Our Grand Super Raffle prize winner with all of her prizes. Zach Meredith presents his fantastic fish finder, along with her tackle box organizer filled with sponsor prizes that included swimbaits, lures and plenty of line. This prize package was valued at over $700.00!
Champion Jack Barton from Crestline (on left) and Scott Graham from Cathedral City. Jack's striper weighed in at 19.63lbs and Scott's came in at a respectable 15.68lbs. Congratulations to both of them for an outstanding job!
Last year's Striper King Classic Champ Gary Wiederspan presenting this year's SKC2 Champ Jack Barton with the beautiful winner's striper trophy. This is now a tradition where the previous year's winner does the presenting of the winner's trophy. The ironic thing is that Jack and Gary are both friends and fishing partners! Birds of a feather...........
