Default DVL HALF HOUR SESH Fri April 24th 2009

I hit up diamond Valley today with my pops and a friend but only 2 of us fished. The plan was to fish for a hour or so from shore and see what we can get. I live in hemet mon-thurs and usually head to sd thurs or fri so I was just out there on my way back to town. So after a good 10 minute climb down some rocks we rig up get our bait out there and as soon as my bait hit the bottom I felt a tap. I didn't think it was a fish just my weight bouncing off a rock, but rather than tightening up n letting the potential fish feel the tension i set my pole down. Then my line peels off a lil bit so I pick my pole back up and i feel the tapping more intensely now so I'm sure the fish doesn't really have it. After 45 seconds of the tapping I said screw it and set the hook. FISH ON! but he's hung up.... After a good 2 minutes of tworking the fish it comes out of the hang... and right into another one. I rip the fish through the 2nd hang in about 15 seconds and it goes on a good 20 foot drag rip. After 6 or 7 minutes I land the fish soaking my feet in water because I had no net and it winds up being a nice 10 pound catfish that was barely hooked in the corner of the mouth. My size 4 eagle claw was virtually straightened as well. Anyways my friend immediately casts in the same area and also gets a run. He gets it close to shore and it looked to be the same size as my fish only his made a run at the last minute and sliced his lighter line on a rock.
So while he missed that fish I rerig and get back out there and again I get slammed right away only this one is hauling A*S. So I set the hook right away and he is still rippin drag off. I thought I lost the fish for a second but it turns out it was just swimming towards me. It took one last run before I landed this 15 pound channel. We were really pressed for time and ended up leaving them biting. My friend did get one more run after I caught the 15 pounder but it got caught in a hang and broke off. Ah well thats fishing... Still not bad for a half hour on the lake and about 15 minutes or so of fishing time. Oh and I don't know what the panfish bite was like because I didn't even get a chance to rig up my bluegill pole to find out. I will next week though.
