    Default Catfish Rod

Can anyone recommend a good catfish rod? I loaned mine to a friend last week, and of course it got broken so I need to buy a new one and practice before October 10th!

Anything...seriously, anything. There is nothing "technique" specific to cat fishing, so just match the rod to the line you're using and you should be good to go. I feel that is spending anything over $50 for catfishing is a blasphemy. Check out the new Shimano Voltaeus lineup.

Sue, it doesn't matter what rod you have, just make sure Turners over fills your reel again. That way the line comes off in threes and makes giant loops and we have to handline in your fish and bait. I know its frustrating but it was damn funny!

Really, a good 7ft MH action rod will do for the Kitties. Walmart has plenty that fit the mold. You can even go with the old stand by Ugly Stik. I don't like em personally as they are too limber for my blood but many many people do fishem. Just get something with enough back bone to fish the heavier lines.

I use a King Kat for my heavier catfish reel. I love Ugly Sticks for channel cats. Can't beat the price on either of those.
