Default 05-10-12 DVL Topwater action picking up

Went to DVL this AM and dedicated my morning to throwing a crankbait. I started out at 0730 AM. The water temp was 69 degrees with a slight breeze. Well I caught a 3lb bass on the first cast and thought this could be a bad omen. On the second cast I hooked up again but this one got off right at the boat. The third cast I hooked up again and this fish was a keeper but only 2 1/2 pounds. They say catching a fish on the first cast is bad luck but not for me . Throughout the morning I continued to catch sveral LMB ranging from 2 - 4 pounds. I noticed the closer I presented my bait to the shore the more strikes I got. There is nothing better than catching bass on a top water lure. The top water bite contined for about an hour and a half. Funny thing is though, the bite turned off and I started seeing followers but no takers. I swithched the cadence and changed bait directions but no more takers.

I left the lake at 1030AM. I have been getting a late start lately but I'm going to try and take advantage of the topwater bite by getting to the lake a little earlier next time. The lake opens at 0545 AM. I like avoiding the lines by showing up late but looks like I will be there early next time........The Top Water bite is heating up. I didn't take a photos but I'm gonna try and get some video and photos on the next outing.........Until next time .....Tight Lines......

Did you throw a topwater or a crankbait?

Sorry for any confusion....It was a Jerkbait......slow sink....... you can keep it on top or let it suspend depending on the rate of your retrieve.......

Very cool. Active bass = power fishing. Question, was it shad baits or bluegill patterns? Thanks.
